Concept: 

This teaser offers a poetic glimpse into the creation of two improvisation-based dance works by James Batchelor (Event) and Jeanine Durning (Everlasting – a new love), developed with the dancers of Norrdans over an intensive two-week period.  

Shot in slow motion and layered with the choreographers' voices, the film captures the evolving intimacy between bodies, space, and emotion in the rehearsal room. Rather than revealing full sequences, it lingers in gestures, eye contact, breath, and shifting proximities — emphasizing the vulnerability and presence at the core of both pieces.  

By blending Batchelor’s looping, baroque-inflected movement with Durning’s torrent of physical and verbal improvisation, the teaser evokes the tension between control and surrender, form and flux. It invites the viewer to feel the unspoken relationships that animate the stage — those fragile yet charged connections formed in the moment, between people who are still discovering the work together.
