Concept:
In Red-Blind, the body moves barefoot over stone and soil beneath a towering Catholic church, suspended between silence and seeking. Dressed in communist-red pants and caressing a Buddhist-style bracelet, the dancer becomes a vessel of layered ideologies and identities—religious, political, spiritual, queer.
Improvised in a garden at the edge of sacred architecture, this Screendance captures the internal tension between inherited constraints and personal freedom. It drifts through quiet rebellion, self-questioning, and soft resilience. Taoist in presence, Buddhist in gesture, and undeniably queer in its longing, Red-Blind is a tender portrait of one body navigating the contradictions of belief, history, and becoming.
Red-Blind is one of the three-part improvisational Screendance series Fieldnotes of a Wandering Body, this work is both a visual meditation and a moment of embodied testimony.
