Concept:
Sinic Touch is an embodied research installation exploring how Chinese dance gestures, body lineages, and pedagogical traditions can enter a Nordic institutional space as soft interventions.
Through 45 small rice-paper touch sheets placed throughout the dance building, the installation
introduces fragments of Chinese bodily training, image- making, and cultural memory. Visitors are invited to gently touch, read, and move with these sheets, encountering a dispersed choreography shaped by curiosity, fragility, and cultural translation.
This work also investigates the spatial and cultural dynamics of enclaves and exclaves: the building as a
"territory" (enclave) where local norms dominate, and each Chinese gesture as a "detached territory" (exclave) that carries a foreign, historical, and diasporic presence.
