Concept:
Equilibrium is a one-square-meter dance work that confronts ideas of containment, discipline, and presence. Created during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was performed outdoors—on porches, in gardens, and parking lots—amid snow and wind, offering intimate, site-specific encounters with movement.
The choreography merges traditional Chinese dance techniques with the rhythmic structure of contemporary pop. Control-based tricks and delicate balances unfold on a confined wooden surface, while a sheer, flowing costume interacts with the natural elements. The work probes how form, tradition, and identity adapt under pressure—inviting reflection on what it means to stay grounded in an unstable world, and how do we remain centered when the world shrinks around us? In its stillness and strength, Equilibrium becomes a quiet act of resilience and connection.
